A week of Dubai Watch Week coverage, SIHH previews and two new partner brands on WorldTempus

Over the summer I had the opportunity to interview Alain Delamuraz, Director of Marketing and Communication at Blancpain at the Lausanne Hotel School where he graduated. In the resulting article, published today on WorldTempus, he explains the longstanding association between Blancpain and the world of gastronomy, as well as Blancpain’s other marketing activities and the challenge of putting the product in the right context.

« Ce mois-ci, gagnez une montre Eterna pour dames »

Over the next ten days we will be reporting on our visit to this year’s Dubai Watch Week, which offered a platform for some frank exchanges among the opinion leaders of the industry at a number of panel discussions and creative hubs and offered the first opportunity to see all the winning watches from this year’s GPHG on display. Several new watches were also launched during the week, including a new perpetual calendar by Baume et Mercier, which Tiffany Cartier Millon presents today.

SIHH preview continue this week as I look at a new world-first presented by Roger Dubuis, together with two other new models with a common blue theme, while Brice Lechevalier attended a presentation by Nicolas Bos at Van Cleef & Arpels of the latest poetic complication piece : the butterfly automaton will be officially unveiled at the SIHH in January, but on WorldTempus this coming Thursday.

I am delighted to welcome two new high-end partner brands to WorldTempus. Cabestan takes its name from the French word for “winch” and the reason is immediately apparent when you look at the distinctive trapezoid cases with the vertical arrangement of the movement with its novel interpretation of the traditional fusee and chain system. Montandon & Co. is a new brand that brings a 21st century interpretation of the marine chronometer that is handcrafted in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux.
