Alpina - Startimer Pilot Chronograph Grande Date

Alpina Startimer Pilot Chronograph Grande Date

Alpina has used its experience as official supplier of military and pilot watches to develop a new version of its iconic Startimer Pilot Big Date Chronograph.

In the first half of the XXth cebtury Alpina was a renowned manufacturer and official supplier of military and pilot watches for continental air forces. Alpina pilot’s watches were very precise and provide ultimate shock resistance. They were mostly equipped with an anti-magnetic case, a high-contrast dial with oversized luminous numerals and luminous hands for instant readability.

Launched in 2012, the Startimer Pilot Big Date Chronograph comes this year with a new military camouflage design and all the qualities expected in a high-performance Pilot’s watch: precision, functionality and reliability. The 44 mm stainless steel case and black PVD coating, water-resistant up to 100 m, is completed by a beige leather strap.

The hands have a beige luminescent coating that guarantees high legibility and the unmistakable red Alpina triangle signature is found in its traditional position at the base of the central chronograph hand. The dial is topped with a sapphire glass crystal scratch resistant face, secured against drops in pressure.

The chronograph function has all the features needed: the sub dial at 9 o’clock shows the recorded minutes while the seconds can be read off from the central hand. The permanent small seconds hand in the sub dial at 6 o’clock indicates that the watch is running normally. The functions of the timepiece are powered by the AL-372 high precision Swiss quartz chronograph movement.
The case back is decorated with an engraving of a jet fighter, to remind us of its military spirit.
