Nautilo Vintage - Anonimo
1 minute read
The Anonimo diver’s watch surfaces in vintage mode with an elegance that is perfectly at home on dry ground.

Established in 1997, the young brand Anonimo is well known to watch enthusiasts for its robust and sporty watches bearing evocative names – Militare, Nautilo – enhanced with the casual chic touch of their country of origin, Italy and the quality of Swiss Made watchmaking. But it is also the bronze of its cases, a metal that the brand was the first to use in its diver’s watches, that appeals to those who like atypical and innovative timepieces. With the arrival of the Epurato in 2018, featuring softer lines and a slimmer 42mm size, the brand clearly placed the emphasis on elegance and paid homage to Florentine aesthetics.

Anonimo continues in this direction with the Baselworld 2019 launch of a new Nautilo, not only graced with a softer, smarter look, but also imbued with a vintage spirit. While it contains all the aesthetic codes of the original Nautilo diver’s watch, designed by naval engineer Dino Zei 15 years ago, this Vintage version leaves the depths of the ocean to match better with a suit or polo shirt than with a wetsuit. The watch comes in a stainless-steel case which, at 42mm, is 2.4mm thinner than the “standard” Nautilo and only 11.8 mm thick (12.55 for the standard Nautilo).

The elegant sunray-patterned blue dial, simplified and slimmer unidirectional blue ceramic bezel, hands and baton-type markers as well as the classic minute track, all endow it with an unmistakably classic style that the hand-made Italian calfskin strap further accentuates. The traditional triangular read-off, in the form of the “A” of Anonimo, marked by the accented positions at 12 o’clock, 4 o’clock and 8 o’clock, is far more discreet, represented only double hour-markers. Just like the diver’s watches, the case back and the crown are screwed in – and the crown naturally remains at 4 o’clock – and the watch is still water resistant to 200 metres and houses the same automatic movement as its sporty predecessors.

This Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and guarantees a power reserve of 38 hours. It drives the central hour, minute and seconds functions, as well as the date at 6 o’clock and has a personalised Anonimo winding rotor.
