Eterna unveils a new version of its KonTiki, inspired by Thor Heyerdahl’s expedition of the Pacific Ocean.

“We tend to offer our collectors one new model per year”, explains Jérôme Biard, CEO of Eterna. “Each time we release a limited series of 300 pieces. Every year, it sells out in just a few weeks. In their hearts, Eterna collectors are extremely faithful”.

Following last year’s anthracite model, Eterna has chosen a deep green to coat its new vintage of the KonTiki Bronze. This colour choice is no accident: it is the natural shade that bronze turns when it undergoes oxidisation, caused by seawater, for example. As such, small touches of greyish green will appear on the bronze case which will naturally match the green found on the dial, the bezel and the bracelet.

Each of these surfaces, bezel and dial, offers a different finish: the bezel circular satin brushed, the dial grained. This results in a texture that you can almost feel through the sapphire glass. This glass, incidentally, is present on both the front and the back, offering a glimpse of the calibre 3902A, featuring a 65-hour power reserve and created in-house by Eterna.

These different elements adorn the 44 mm bronze case, which is water-resistant to 200 metres and has proven to be the model’s key to success for several years. Meanwhile, the unidirectional bezel is engraved with a diving time scale. It indicates the maximum duration of a dive of a given depth with no need to calculate the decompression stops, providing extremely useful information for divers, compared to simple chronographic scales.

An authentic diving watch, its purpose underscored by the inscription “Diver 200 m” found on its dial, the new 44 mm KonTiki Bronze features large luminescent hours and minutes hands that turn on top of oversized hour markers imbued with SuperLumiNova. Together they provide a level of readability that is adapted to the darkness of the underwater depths.

This new limited series 44 mm KonTiki Bronze is, just like its predecessors, strictly limited to 300 individually numbered pieces.
