GMT: Winter Issue Turning The Page
Turning the page. That’s the editorial suggestion in the GMT Winter 2020/2021 magazine, of which WorldTempus is gifting its readers the digital version for Christmas.
The year 2020 will go down in the history books for a number of reasons, and we are delighted to be able to turn this particular page, above all by recalling the formidable resilience of our marvelous watch industry. This quality was expressed throughout the year by the determination to forge ahead and the efforts undertaken by entities such as Geneva Watch Days, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève and the SIAR in Mexico City. It was also demonstrated by brands that continued to create and innovate in a more individual manner, including those who have carrried on setting new records for thinnest calibres, such as Audemars Piguet, Bvlgari and Piaget. As long as it can adapt to world moving at an ever faster – and at times bumpy – pace, Haute Horlogerie has a bright future ahead of it, as Marc Hayek (CEO of Breguet) and Ricardo Guadalupe (CEO of Hublot) explain in their interviews. This is also reflected in the Grande Sonnerie by Audemars Piguet featured on the cover, of which the dial is enriched by extraordinary enamel artist Anita Porchet.

This symmetrically numbered year was also due to witness the 20th anniversary celebrations of GMT, known industry-wide for its particularly joyful and unifying evenings. Instead, we brought together 30 experts to immortalize the essentials of watchmaking since the year 2000 in a book. Through its 300 pages illustrated with over 1,000 photos, The Millennium Watch Book analyzes and describes the highlights of contemporary watchmaking creation, without forgetting those to whom we owe them. If you love watches, you’ll be delighted to immerse yourself in this large-format book produced with passion. As you leaf through its pages, you will see that the last 20 years are probably the most exciting in the history of watchmaking. But let’s look ahead and hope that 2021 will prove to be a time for celebration, as it is the turn of our partner website WorldTempus to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
Audemars Piguet is one of the few independent family-owned watch businesses and has been based in Le Brassus, in Switzerland's Vallée de Joux region, at the heart of the fine watchmaking industry, ever since the company was first established in 1875.Find out more >
