To celebrate America's winter, spring, summer and fall, Grand Seiko unveiled four timepieces during the recent CoutureTime show in Las Vegas.

During the recent CoutureTime show in Las Vegas, Grand Seiko unveiled its newest collection, with a Four Seasons theme, as a USA Exclusive. Essentially, each of the four new timepieces, being rolled out in two deliveries, represents a different season to reflect America’s winter, spring, summer and fall.

While Japan (where Grand Seiko is created) actually celebrates two dozen different mini seasons, the watches are American specific so they celebrate the country’s four seasons. Still, the watches underscore Japan’s culture and inherent love and celebration of nature and time.

All of the watches are crafted in either stainless steel or titanium, with the case fashioned after, and paying homage to, the 62GS, the brand’s first self-winding watch that was unveiled more than 50 years ago in 1967. The watches will make their way to stores in September and October of this year.

The first versions to make their way to stores in September are the winter and spring models.  Both 40mm in diameter, these watches are crafted in titanium and feature a mirror-sided case that is bezel free to offer a wider dial opening and an integrated titanium bracelet with Grand Seiko’s “Zaratsu” polishing that has a matte and shiny effect. Emulating the lightness of the case, the dials – incredibly textured and highly alluring – also offer a lighter touch. The winter watch is designed to emulate heavy snowfall and features a silver white dial with textured pattern.  The spring version features a shimmering pink textured dial designed to reflect the beloved Sakura cherry blossom season.

These winter and spring watches house the brand’s proprietary Spring Drive movements. The brand’s first Spring Drive caliber was introduced to the world just over 20 years ago in 1998. It was driven by a spring, but offered top-tier precision thanks to decades of research and development. Today the automatic winding version is one of the most sought-after Grand Seiko movements. The new watches are powered by the Caliber 9R65 Spring Drive movement that offers 72-hour power reserve indication (between 7 o’clock and 8 o’clock on the dial) and date aperture at 3 o’clock. The watch features a box-like sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a see-through sapphire caseback with gold metalized Grand Seiko lion emblem on it. The watches are water resistant to 100 meters.

Arriving in stores in October are the summer and fall versions.  These two watches are crafted in stainless steel with stainless steel bracelets that are also matte and polished in finish. Both are powered by Grand Seiko’s Caliber 9S85 mechanical automatic Hi-Beat 36,000 self-winding caliber. Like its name implies, this movement beats at 36,000 vibrations per hour and is accurate from -3 to +5 seconds per day. The watches are equipped with 55 hours of power reserve. Like their winter and spring siblings, these watches are fitted with anti-reflective sapphire crystals and caseback (with center metal Grand Seiko Lion emblem), and are water resistant to 100 meters.

The dials of the summer and fall versions are bold and beautiful high-polished renditions. They offer hours, minutes and seconds, as well as a date indication at 3 o’clock. The summer watch boasts a slightly textured striking green dial to reflect the lush green grass and foliage of summer. The fall version sports a rich blue dial that is designed to recall the Autumn Equinox and so reflects the moonlight.   All of the Four Seasons watches will retail for $6,300.
