This week we look at two distinct trends seen at Baselworld and continue our series of interviews. We also reveal the first launch for Baselworld 2017!

Our series of interviews from Basel continues this week with Raymond Weil’s CEO Elie Bernheim on the homepage today, who effuses over the immediate success of the brand’s new partnership with The Beatles. Later this week Carl F. Bucherer’s CEO Sascha Moeri explains the new “golden” image that accompanies the brand’s 2016 collection.

Today we also start a series of articles on one of the trends spotted at Baselworld this year. There were a lot of black watches. So many, in fact, that we have allocated them to sub-categories. Michèle Brunner gets the ball rolling with a look at the “all-black” watches, inspired by Hublot’s original All-Black concept, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. In a second instalment later this week, Michèle will offer a selection where black is the dominant colour.

Another trend, this time spotted by Olivier Müller, is that of the “distressed” look in watches. Some of you may remember the trend in the 1990s for distressed or “used” denim. This now appears in watches on everything from the ageing bronze cases to dials and straps. Check out our homepage tomorrow for more details.

TAG Heuer’s original operation to choose the Autavia model to re-launch at Baselworld 2017 came to its conclusion over the weekend. After three rounds of tough decision-making, tens of thousands of voters have whittled down 16 candidates to a final choice that will be launched next year and is therefore our first Baselworld 2017 launch on WorldTempus. Find out which one on the official Autavia Cup website.
