Launched in 2017, the Calatrava Haute Joaillerie Ref. 4899 set itself apart with its extremely feminine decoration, combining white gold, engraved mother-of-pearl and precious stones. Following on from the first version in a palette of pink, Patek Philippe is unveiling a new model in shades of blue.
The softly rounded contour of the white-gold case is set with staggered rows of brilliant-cut diamonds interspersed with brilliant-cut blue sapphires in varying intensities of color. On the lower part of the 18K gold dial, diamonds mingle with sapphires in different shades of blue in a “random” or “snow” setting, while the upper part, in mother-of-pearl, features a hand-engraved feather motif in delicate blue tints. Poised on this precious background, the white-gold leaf-shaped hour and minute hands are also decorated with fine engraving. Further diamonds and blue sapphires illuminate the crown and prong buckle. In all, Ref. 4899/901G-001 is set with 702 precious stones, that is, 348 diamonds (~1.66 ct) and 354 blue sapphires (~2.69 ct). In compliance with the criteria of the Patek Philippe Seal, the diamonds adorning this jewelry watch are all of Top Wesselton Pure quality and impeccable cut and are set according to the highest principles of the gem-setter’s art.
The watch’s sapphire-crystal case back reveals the caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement with a 22K gold off-center minirotor. This mechanism unites aesthetic refinement, attention to finish and rigorous rate accuracy.
This new Calatrava Haute Joaillerie Ref. 4899/901G-001 replaces the previous Ref. 4899/900G-001 in shades of pink and is accompanied by an alligator strap with large square scales in matte lavender blue, which harmonizes with the color of the sapphires.
