Bovet - The name Italia Classica automatically calls to mind the amazing sports cars of 1960s, mostly created by the prestigious Italian design house Pininfarina.
The aim of the event is to promote Italian art and culture among period car enthusiasts and owners, and since 2001 it has steadily grown in importance to become one of the key dates in the car collector's calendar. This year, to mark the 80th anniversary of Pininfarina, for one week the Italia Classica will exhibit its finest machines in a procession of more than 50 exceptional vehicles, including the famous Lancia Flaminia designed by Pininfarina and presented in March 1960 to the President of the Repubblica Italiana of the time, Giovanni Gronchi.
Bovet 1822, the Italian designer's exclusive watch partner, was promptly invited to become associated with this prestigious event, the highlight of which will take place on 24th of September 2010 at the Palazzo del Quirinale in the presence of the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano.
Bovet, the exclusive watch partner of the Italia Classica 2010, will thus be in attendance throughout the week of 20 to 26th of September, providing evening entertainment to the 100 participants with a travelling exhibition that combines Bovet's art of traditional watchmaking with the House's most recent creations, and in particular the Tourbillon Ottanta, the fruit of close collaboration between Bovet and Pininfarina produced in a limited edition of 80 pieces to commemorate the Italian designer's 80th anniversary.
On September 24th, at the awards ceremony singling out the most beautiful cars taking part in the event, Pascal Raffy, the owner of Bovet and Dimier, Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Artisanale, will present the Sportster Saguaro Italia Classica 2010 chronograph to the winner of the Concours d'Elégance. This exceptional timepiece is hewn from a block of 18-carat gold and features a silvered meteorite dial whose production technique is a jealously guarded secret among the manufacture's master craftsmen.
