Swiss artist Stephan Schmidlin is the new ambassador for Carl F. Bucherer. He serves as the perfect example, demonstrating that one can realize one's goals through commitment and discipline. He is sharing his uncompromising will to go his own way and to realize his visions with the independent watch manufacturer from Lucerne.

Stephan Schmidlin has already achieved a lot in his life. As a young Swiss champion gymnast, he gained nationwide acclaim. He enjoyed a huge success as a satirist with René Rindlisbacher in the double act “The Schmirinski's“, who won several awards, and were also crowned with the title of “Swiss Television Men“ among the TV personalities of the century.
Simple masterpieces
Despite this success, Schmidlin kept following his dream, to become a sculptor. This he achieved with determination and perseverance and thanks to his education as a wood sculptor, which he successfully completed at the famous school of carving in Brienz (Switzerland). Today, the manytalented 47-year-old, who through modesty and passionate dedication to his creative activities distinguishes himself in the art of sculpting as a personality in exceptionally high demand.
At the heart of Stephan Schmidlin's creativity stands the human being. His works arouse critical reflection, but at the same time are aesthetically complete. They are momentary representations of the interplaying movement between harmony and tension, merging circles and squares. Always finding new relationships between the concrete and the abstract, heaviness and lightness, and fascinating in their simplicity and their masterly execution. There is a clear, concise and, above all, personal leitmotif running through all of Schmidlin's work.

Sculptures of international significance
The results of his creativity are self-evident. In 2004, Stephan Schmidlin produced the sculpture for the one-hundredth anniversary of the World Football Association FIFA, the “100 Years FIFA-Sculpture”, as well as the one dedicating the most important Swiss Sports Trophy, the “Credit Suisse Sports Award”. On the invitation of Prince Albert of Monaco, he gained further widespread fame on the Côte d'Azur with the presentation of his monumental work, “Lothar”, carved out of the wood from trees felled by the storm of the century, bearing this same name, which swept through Switzerland in 1999. In the hitherto most comprehensive exhibition of his work in Zurich, in September 2010, he displayed 100 naturalist sculptures under the Title of “Fascination human being“.
