Press release

Women have assumed a central role throughout Eterna's 150-year history. The watchmaker was already delighting the ladies back in the 1930s with what was, at the time, the world's smallest baguette movement. Launched at the World Watch and Jewellery Show, Baselworld, Eterna expands its collection of ladies' watches featuring a timelessly elegant rectangular design in the Art Deco style.

The new stainless steel Contessa is set with 301 diamonds (Top Wesselton, VVS, 1.68 carat).
In the first half of the last century – a time when smallness in ladies' watches was de rigueur – Eterna was already acquiring a reputation for its superior designs and advanced manufacturing techniques. Even then in the 1930s, the world's smallest baguette calibre for ladies presented Eterna's designers with ample opportunity for expressing their creativity. The appearance in 1950 of Eterna's smallest self-winding movement – a world first – persuaded international stars such as Gina Lollobrigida and Brigitte Bardot to adopt the prestigious watchmaker's creations.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend

The new Contessa finds Eterna once again demonstrating its watchmaking prowess. It features a distinctive-looking, subtly waisted rectangular stainless steel case. Aware that nothing speaks to a woman's heart like a diamond, Eterna has a flair for producing quality timepieces at attractive price points. Hence the appearance of this Contessa, whose full-pavé stainless steel case lends the timepiece a touch of immeasurable glamour. Its feminine curves are encrusted with 288 diamonds (Top Wesselton, VVS, 1.52 carat), while a single facetted diamond (Top Wesselton, VVS, 0.06 carat) adorns the crown.

The iridescence of the mother-of-pearl dial harmonises beautifully with the sparkle of the twelve diamond hour markers (Top Wesselton, VVS, 0.096 carat). Powering the Contessa is a reliable quartz movement.

This new addition to the Contessa collection is sure to delight the feminine senses with its two quick-change Louisiana alligator straps: the black example exudes class and elegance, while its white counterpart communicates freshness and neutrality. The gentle gradations on the folding clasp echo the characteristic Art Deco design elements of the watchcase.

The Contessa from Eterna is a watch for the self-assured, elegant woman who loves the out of the ordinary when combined with meticulous craftsmanship and choice materials.
