Swiss-born, Patrick Kury has accumulated considerable watch-industry experience, not least as Eterna's Chief Technology Officer since 2005. He has also served as Deputy Executive Director since 2008. His contributions include the Eterna Spherodrive technology, the ball-bearing mounted mainspring barrel patented in 2006.

The Eterna brand
Eterna has since 1856 turned out high-quality mechanical timepieces born of traditional craftsmanship. Over its more than 150 years of existence, numerous major developments have emerged from the company's workshops. Revolutionary innovations such as the Eterna-Matic ball-bearing-mounted rotor and the first alarm-equipped wristwatch originated at Eterna. Other milestones include the recently developed Eterna Spherodrive sprung-barrel construction fitted on ball-bearings - setting a new standard of horological endurance and regularity, hence of quality in a mechanical movement. Eterna remains one of a handful of watch manufacturers focussing on new ideas using first-class materials in the pursuit of its traditional craft. And it is by doing so that Eterna has succeeded time and time again in devising unexpected solutions to watchmaking challenges that had defied the centuries. Eterna has inter alia been granted the production license for the renowned Porsche Design watch collection.
