He starts today with a report on an exhibition hosted by the retailer Cortina Watch, which brought together timepieces whose combined value was equivalent to the cost of staging the city-state’s Formula 1 Grand Prix this year!

Significant events covered by WorldTempus last week included the opening of the La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton (see our news item and Brice Lechevalier’s interview with Hamdi Chatti) and the launch of the new Blancpain Ocean Commitment Bathyscaphe Chronograph. But one of the most eagerly anticipated new launches comes later today, as Patek Philippe celebrates its 175th anniversary. Rumour has it that the new timepiece is brimming with complications and took seven years to develop. We will, of course, bring you all the details as soon as we have them, but expect something very special.

Amidst the pomp and ceremony, however, we also continue our examination of some of the often-overlooked aspects of a watch. Having looked last week in more detail at the different types of luminescent materials used on watch dials, this week we focus on a component that can make or break the comfort of a watch on your wrist: the humble link.
