Editorial Two-Week Countdown

Watches and Wonders Geneva is just around the corner

The countdown is officially on! The Geneva watchmaking show will begin its festivities on March 27. From the halls of Palexpo to the watchmaking boutiques on the famous Rue du Rhône, Watches and Wonders Geneva (WWG) promises a bigger and more inclusive experience. Here is the five-star menu that WorldTempus has prepared for you.

New year, new faces. The brands present for the 2022 edition, including Chanel, Hublot, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Rolex, are joined this year by several newcomers. The addition of Beauregard, Frédérique Constant and Bell & Ross has helped to increase the number of exhibitors to 48.

“That’s all very well. But why should I care, if I can’t go and see them?” I hear you protest. Well, this year, you’ll be pleased to hear that WWG is opening its doors to the public on 1 and 2 April, which means that anyone can go in person to worship at the altar of watchmaking expertise “In the Salon”. If you haven’t got your ticket yet, click here.

But that’s not all! WWG is also taking over Geneva’s city centre, where it will animate the city of Calvin with a series of “In the City” events. From the Place de la Madeleine to the Pont de la Machine (WWG Foundation HQ), not forgetting Les Rues Basses and the Rue du Rhône, the week of 27 March will see a range of events taking place in the boutiques of the participating Maisons, plus watchmaking treasure hunts, tours and guided visits. The week will be rounded off with a concert by a famous electronic music artist, in the early evening of Thursday 30 March.

Geneva Watch Days 2022 TV Show © WorldTempus

WorldTempus will be very busy throughout the week keeping you updated with everything that’s going on. Our daily TV show, which we produced for the first time at Geneva Watch Days 2022, will be reporting from the heart of the action, at the exhibitors’ booths. This will be the first time we’ve rolled out this format for WWG, and our team is really feeling the pressure! Our editorial director Sophie Furley will be on the ground, where she will not only be escorting the CEOs to the Salon, she’ll also be in charge of running the TV show. Our editor-in-chief Suzanne Wong will be providing all the juicy details of the new watches on display, and she’ll also be testing the knowledge of various people involved in watchmaking in a series of blind tests. I’ll help you fill out your wish lists by taking you to the most eye-catching booths. And I’ll also be very active on social media (don’t forget to follow @worldtempus). Our colleagues from GMT Magazine, Brice Lechevalier, Marie de Pimodan and Allissa Pataki will also be at the Salon, although our paths are unlikely to cross. If we want to meet up for lunch we’ll have to resort to online chat, particularly given that this edition of WWG is likely to be crowded. Last year there were very few Americans and no Chinese at all, and they are no doubt looking forward to making up for lost time this year.

D-14: The adrenaline level is rising at WorldTempus. We hope you’re as excited as we are! Join us at 8:30 am on 27 March for the grand opening!
