Even adrenaline junkies can indulge in a splash of elegance. The new SUB 300β Sharkhunter from Doxa is the perfect companion for both urban adventures and beach-side exploits, elegantly clad in a luxurious ensemble of black and gold

Hailing back to the sixties – 1967 to be exact, Doxa’s SUB concept has been a cornerstone of the brand’s identity since its powerful resurgence four years ago. Doxa, established in 1889, has since enjoyed a well-deserved boost in popularity. With its rich history, the SUB 300 model, offering 300 metres of water resistance, democratised dive watches in the late 1960s, opening the doors of the silent underwater world to a wider public. The SUB 300, designed in collaboration with professionals for peak efficiency, also won over some of the most discerning individuals, like the iconic red-capped pioneer Commander Jacques-Yves Cousteau. To anchor the highly sporty SUB 300 in today’s urban scene, a bold move was needed. That’s where the SUB 300β Sharkhunter comes in. Just as the SUB 300 made the dive watch accessible to the masses, the SUB 300β Sharkhunter brings this legendary dive watch into a glamorous new reality.

The chic urbanite...

The pairing of gold and black oozes luxury and elegance. The intriguing depth of black amplifies the noble radiance of gold, completely flipping the familiar look of the SUB 300 – previously known for its vibrantly coloured dials and bracelets in shades of black, white or silver. Doxa has always reinforced this with evocative names like “Orange Professional”, “Turquoise Aquamarine”, “Yellow Divingstar” and, of course, “Black Sharkhunter”.

Dressed head-to-toe in matte black with glossy black accents, this latest Doxa in its little black dress is accessorised with 18-karat gold on the bezel and crown and gold-plated indices. The hour markers, the dot at 12 o’clock and the hands are coated with golden beige Super-LumiNova, an essential feature for visibility in the depths of the ocean. To create this elegant timepiece, Doxa has also slimmed down the casing, shaving nearly two millimetres from its profile (11.96 mm compared to 13.65 for the SUB 300T), because a slimmer watch is simply more versatile.

... and the intrepid diver

For this latest version of the SUB 300 – wow factor guaranteed – Doxa remains true to the technical features that underpin the model’s performance. The case is crafted from matte black ceramic and the strap is made from ultra-durable FKM rubber – because not all rubbers are created equal. The unidirectional rotating bezel prevents any accidental adjustments that could lead to an inaccurate dive time measurement. The SUB 300β Sharkhunter also houses an internal titanium container to protect the movement from increasing pressure during a deep-sea descent.

Though the model may not hold the ISO 6425 dive watch certification – few contemporary dive watches do – its precision is nonetheless certified by the COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute), which puts each individual watch through rigorous testing. Finally, the strap, equipped with a deployant clasp, includes a diver’s extension. This allows the SUB 300β Sharkhunter to be worn over a wetsuit, a business suit, or a little black dress with equal ease... the choice is yours!
