Press release
On the 5th March, watch information website Worldtempus.com, in partnership with both houses of Jaquet-Droz and Louis Vuitton, will be going live with a new online platform; you'll be able to follow live, share and interact with all latest news being tweeted on the Baselworld show, the brands and their new products.
To tweet or not to tweet? This question had already been asked at the SIHH when Baume & Mercier and Worldtempus launched a totally innovative platform for following all the news from the Geneva show in real time as it was being reported on Twitter.
Following a very positive experience, which allowed almost 8,000 tweets to be highlighted via different feeds, reaching a community of over 3 million interconnected individuals, there is no longer any question. For a medium such as Worldtempus, the preferred player in watch industry information, it is an obvious step forward to use Twitter as the ideal social network to publish and share information.
Worldtempus, in partnership with the company Up-All-Night.ch, has therefore developed an aggregator on which everything that is being, and will be, tweeted during Baselworld 2012 (about the event itself, brands and new products) can be found in a single location. Accessible via a dedicated URL, it has also been integrated into the Worldtempus website as part of the special Baselworld pages. In this respect, Worldtempus is strengthening its role as a forerunner in watch industry information; after all, it was the first to make use of the net 11 years ago!
Service provided
Baselworldtweet.com is a service that the Worldtempus website provides to the industry and the community. As such, it clearly benefits from the visibility and the credibility that Worldtempus currently enjoys among watch enthusiasts and professionals. And it will, of course, benefit from editorial input from the website whose various contributors will all be present in Basel to cover the Show! This platform therefore intends to become the centre of the world for the watch blogosphere!
Essentially, www.baselworldtweet.com aggregates content that is published on Twitter. In other words, thanks to a system of key words and hash tags, it “sucks in” all content related to Baselworld. The site then republishes the information in the form of themed feeds linked to Worldtempus, Baselworld and the platform's partner brands.

The importance of image
In an industry seeking to inspire dreams, image is everything. The number of photos tweeted during the SIHH experiment proved this. As the ordinary Twitter feed display cannot show images, an exclusive solution had to be developed in order to have photos and videos appear directly in the feed or in the form of a wall of images. This is a world first in the service of the fine watch industry and should further strengthen the website's impact among enthusiasts all over the world.
Going live on the 5th March, the www.baselworldtweet.com website is a HOT SPOT that is being made available to the blogosphere and enthusiasts all over the world so they can follow and share watch-industry news, and interact with each other through comments and questions.
The Worldtempus editorial team and several journalists will be tweeting all week from the Show, using text, photos and video. But there is a good chance that bloggers and other online commentators will appropriate this forum for themselves!
Recognizing the essential role played by social media in disseminating information to and engaging a community of aficionados, the two prestigious houses of Jaquet-Droz and Louis Vuitton have joined Worldtempus for the launch of this new digital platform.
