Launched in 2001, at the same time as our WorldTempus.com website, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève always results in a lot of vibrant commentary and tears (of joy) shed, especially by the winners.

For the past 15 years, we’ve been offering our readers the official catalog, rounding out this tribute to the “watchmaking Oscars” with a series of articles and analyses. These aim to provide a deeper understanding of the issues at stake and to offer a closer look at the key players on this dazzling stage.  We spoke with two of them, Caroline Scheufele (Chopard) and Gregory Kissling (Breguet). This year, we’re seeing a number of contrasts that are admittedly inherent to the diversity of this magnificent industry. In a historic first, five collabs – some of them quite unexpected – are among the finalists and we’re putting them firmly in the spotlight. More generally, while the major brands seem to be the favorites, a few virtually unknown newcomers have managed to make the cut. They’re more international, bolder – and for now less familiar. They naturally do not appear in the all-time Top 10 that we’ve compiled (since the GPHG’s inception), on which the LVMH and Richemont groups are both represented by three brands, alongside the four independents of all sizes that have also found their place there. Guess who’s in the lead?
