Auction to be Hosted at Phillips New York in December 2024

After a heartwarming wave of generosity and enthusiasm following TimeForArt’s inaugural edition in 2022, New York non-profit Swiss Institute announces the second edition of TimeForArt, the first-ever and only benefit watch auction to support contemporary art. The auction is to be held as part of The Phillips New York Watch Auction: XI at Phillips in December 2024.

The inaugural edition of TimeForArt gathered 17 exceptional timepieces from the world’s foremost watchmakers, and raised $1.2 million, with 100% of the proceeds from the watch auction, including Phillips’ Buyer’s Premium, going directly to supporting today’s most visionary artists through Swiss Institute’s innovative exhibitions, public programs, education & community engagement workshops in New York and beyond.

This year, TimeForArt brings together 26 watch brands, ranging from cutting-edge independent watchmakers to acclaimed luxury watch brands. The timepieces curated for TimeForArt express the most artistic elements of contemporary watchmaking, shining a light on the creative core of today’s horology. With the theme of artists for artists, all featured watches are either unique collaborations with world-renowned artisans, interventions by leading contemporary artists, or bespoke examples of innovative craftsmanship.

The 26 participating brands include:

• Anoma
• Armin Strom
• Baltic
• Biver
• Breitling
• Bulgari
• Chanel
• Chopard
• Czapek
• Dennison
• ECAL x Reuge
• Fleming
• Furlan Marri
• Hodinkee x Carl F Bucherer

• Louis Erard
• Massena LAB
• Maurice Lacroix
• Perrelet
• RESERVOIR
• Ressence
• Speake-Marin

In the fall of 2024, highlights from the collection will be showcased globally at a series of preview events held in partnership with Phillips. The lots will be sold consecutively during a dedicated chapter as part of the upcoming New York watch auction at Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo. Bidders will have the opportunity to bid in person during the live auction at 432 Park Avenue, bid over the phone with a Phillips specialist, or place bids in advance. The auction will also be livestreamed, allowing collectors to bid in real-time online.

"Swiss Institute is grateful for the outpouring of support from the watchmaking world. Through TimeForArt, we see the beginning of a new wave of philanthropy, where art and watch collectors are given access to one-of-a-kind collectibles while having a direct artist-centric and communitydriven impact." Stefanie Hessler, Director of Swiss Institute

“As the first and only watch auction to directly benefit contemporary artists, TimeForArt is a visionary new model of philanthropy that highlights the artistic connections between the worlds of art and horology. The interest in and support of TimeForArt’s first edition was remarkable, and I am looking forward to an expanded second edition with new brands joining to create unique, art-inspired timepieces." Mojdeh Cutter, Director of Partnerships & TimeForArt, Swiss Institute

"Phillips is honored to have been entrusted once again to host the groundbreaking TimeForArt sale. Following the success of the inaugural edition two years ago, the importance of this philanthropic initiative has been made all the more clear by the wonderful generosity shown by this year's even larger group of prestigious brands. Celebrating the intersection of art and horology, TimeForArt plays a vital role in Swiss Institute's important goals of supporting artists and furthering art education.
