Headquartered in Lengnau, Switzerland, Formex Watch SA is a master in the development of exceptionally casual timekeeping instruments. The inventor of the active case suspension system is adding a sprinkling of color and technical finesse to the autumn season in horology with the launch of its latest collection in October. The new models exhibit a number of typical Formex attributes: with prominent 45-millimeter cases, they are rugged, eminently shock-resistant, and distinctively Swiss.
So far, all Formex watches have featured internal shock absorbers, but in the new collection, the patented suspension system is visible from the outside. The casually elegant personalities of the new watches are aesthetically delightful, opening up new perspectives in the interpretation of progressive technology. Unlike their siblings, the new models have non-tilted cases, so the watches are only 13.3 millimeters thick, including the suspension system. The striking signature dials come in yellow/black, silver, or black. The numerals are applied on a charcoal-colored ring that frames the honeycomb-like pattern in the center. Pierced hands reminiscent of wings unobtrusively track the steady flow of time.
The new collection consists of six models. Powered by an ETA movement, the exclusively styled self-winding version catches the eye with a stunning three-dimensional effect based on the interplay of materials. One of its salient features is the bar-shaped date aperture at 6 o'clock. The chronograph incorporates an ETA Chrono quartz movement and has a split-seconds hand for lap-time readings. It, too, proudly displays its affinity with motor sports.
