“The originality of the R&D 01 lies in the unusual position of its push-pieces on the left-hand sise of the watch, making it very easy for racing drivers to operate the chronograph functions. At the same time, the crown, which has a smooth, curved integrated crown-shield, is positioned at 4 o'clock for easy acces and wearer comfort.
The smooth, rounded crown-guard, inspired by the shape of a competition car's air intake, protects the date corrector as well as the crown. The Manufactory-made movement is visible through the sapphire crystal case-back, which is secured with six Imbus screws, of the kind used in competition car construction.
Model customized into a black PVD steel limited edition in collaboration with Laurent Picciotto, a long-time Girard-Perregaux friend and a watch connoisseur.”
