The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) is pleased to welcome Manufacture Horlogère De Bethune among its partner brands. This brings to 27 the number of firms wishing to promote, across all five continents, a form of watchmaking founded on centuries of tradition and cutting-edge technology.
De Bethune fits squarely within this context. Established 2002, the company takes each day as an opportunity to pursue its resolutely avant-garde vision of traditional watchmaking. Behind this fusion of old and new are a collector and enthusiast, David Zanetta, and a watchmaker and watch designer, Denis Flageollet, joined in 2011 by Pierre Jacques. The contemporary aesthetic of a De Bethune timepiece is instinctively recognisable as the visual incarnation of the brand. This aesthetic is built on fundamental research into time measurement, in the spirit of the great eighteenth-century masters. After ten years, De Bethune can already claim nine patents, 17 world-firsts and 15 proprietary movements.
This approach to time measurement, a meeting of art and science, has been justly recognised. In 2011, De Bethune was awarded the Aiguille d'Or, the highest distinction of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève, for its DB28, a watch of rare elegance and technical refinement. As a company whose credo is to "do not more, but better", De Bethune has imposed a style that is rooted in history and turned to the future. These values are also those that underpin the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie.
