Students of the Chair in Watch Design at the HEAD have reinterpreted Hysek's Kilada model for its 20th anniversary.

Among the designs put forward, Hysek chose those of Sandra Garsaud and Fiona Felisberto to develop to the stage of functional prototype. See the two designs below.

Project of Sandra Garsaud
Hysek particularly appreciated Sandra's project because it demonstrates Hysek's expertise by using the movement base as the dial, showing off the compass-style finish, which is one of the brand's most emblematic decorations. The project also perfectly reinterprets the disruptive aspect of the Kilada's curved sapphire crystal in a nod to the smartwatches of today. It also respects the integration of the case and strap as well as its comfort on the wrist.

Project of Fiona Felisberto
Fiona's project has a level of decoration on the profile of the case that appealed to Hysek, because it reimagines an important element in the brand's DNA. The curves are interlaced to produce a delicate foral motif.

The original method of fixing the strap means that it can be changed easily and is one of the strong points of this project. It has been designed for the modern woman who is keen to have a watch she can wear throughout the day.

Hysek was delighted with the candid approach of the students and their freedom of interpretation of the brand's DNA. Loris Benoît, artistic director at Hysek, thanked the students and teachers at the Chair in Watch Design at the HEAD in Geneva for their participation in this programme.

"We also enjoyed sharing our expertise and our vision of fine watchmaking during the prototyping stage, at the same time allowing the students to discover a family feeling at a small brand that is nevertheless fully vertically integrated and independent."
