Big Bang Meca-10 Nicky Jam

In Miami, Hublot unveiled a model available in three versions, designed in collaboration with the singer and brand ambassador Nicky Jam.

Nicky Jam became a Hublot ambassador in June of this year. After topping the charts in 2015 with the success of his track “El Perdon”, he had the whole world singing this summer with “Live it Up”, the official song of the 2018 FIFATM World Cup in Russia, a competition for which Hublot is the Official Timekeeper.

“What a privilege to be able to wear a masterpiece of Swiss watchmaking bearing my initials on my wrist today,” said Nicky Jam, Hublot Ambassador. “What does this have in common with my music? Behind every great success, be it a watch or a song, lies huge work resulting from an entire team’s efforts.”

It was in front of an audience of select guests—VIPs, stars and friends of the brand—that Hublot celebrated Nicky Jam during a party at The Temple House, Miami. For the occasion, the venue in the heart of the South Beach district saw itself covered in light: its façade and its interior walls served as a screen for a mapping animation and artistically projecting films and photographs.

It was in this setting that Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of the brand, gave a speech thanking Nicky for joining the Hublot family, and unveiled the first fruits of this collaboration: the Big Bang Meca-10 Nicky Jam watches.

These watches come in three different versions based on the Big Bang. With a 45-mm diameter, they are powered by the HUB1201 manufacture calibre, whose construction reveals, on the dial side, all of the original imbrication of its 10-day power reserve that gave this model its name: Meca-10! For the first time the watch is skeletonised and gold-plated, thus offering the piece a brand-new look.

The case and bezel of the first version are made of Hublot’s black ceramic. As on the two other versions, its dial displays the singer’s logo, composed of his initials NJ, at 12 o’clock. On its back, his hand-written signature is affixed on the glass enabling the watch movement to be seen.

The second is adorned with a colour dear to Nicky Jam’s heart: gold! The case, bezel and crown are machined out of King Gold, an alloy of gold, copper and platinum developed by Hublot. It is set with semi-precious stones (yellow sapphires, orange sapphires and tsavorites) in the same three colours as the video for the “X (Equis)” track.

The third version is dazzling! This piece of fine jewellery has its case in King Gold, while its flange, middle, the NJ logo and its indexes are set with baguette-cut diamonds, which can also be found on the clasp of its strap. In all, no fewer than 307 diamonds, with a weight of 16.9 carats, adorn this watch.

All three watches are delivered with a choice of strap in black Alcantara or in alligator dyed in red, yellow and green, also the colours of the “X (Equis)” track.
