This is the fourth time Cristiano has won the Ballon d’Or (2008, 2013, 2014 and 2016), an award in recognition of the best footballer on the planet.
A TAG Heuer ambassador since 2014, the Portuguese superstar received the trophy on 12 December 2016 while sporting a TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-02T – the famous proprietary Tourbillon paired with a COSC-certified chronograph. This unique piece — specially made for Cristiano — is set with 68 baguette diamonds, which sparkled under the ceremonial lights.
2016 has been a magnificent year for Cristiano, one which saw him win his third Champions League title and end the season with more than 50 goals to his name. The summer also saw Cristiano and his Portuguese national side win the Euro 2016 Championships. He was crowned best European player for the second time in August, and the Ballon d'Or 2016 now recognizes his extraordinary talent and mental strength.
