At H. Moser & Cie., the past is never merely something to be kept under glass. Since 1828, the brand’s founding year, it has been a key component in its vibrant approach to designing watches. More discreet than the brand’s other lines, the Heritage collection is an equally important pillar. Its round cases recall the design of pocket watches; its tapered lugs recall an era when these features became gradually more adapted to the wrist. The notched crown attests to the links with historic timepieces. With these two new creations, the Heritage collection draws on different periods from the history of H. Moser & Cie.: a 1940s- inspired chronograph and a three-hand watch with classic accents.
Heritage Chronograph White Fumé: a Thirst for Exploration
Inspired by Moser chronographs from the mid-20th century, the Heritage Chronograph White Fumé recaptures the look of watches designed for those whose need to know the time was matched by their thirst to conquer the world.
Its classic composition is based around two subdials located at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock: one for the small second, the other for the 45-minute chronograph. A tachymeter scale is a reminder of the practical purpose of these instruments, which were originally designed to accompany pioneers and explorers.
On the White fumé dial, the Moser logo assumes its historic 1947 iteration. The chronograph indications, graduations, subdials and hands stand out in blue, creating a contrast that enhances the watch’s readability as much as its character. The result is the charm of a vintage chronograph paired with a resolutely contemporary clarity.
At the heart of this 42 mm steel case is the H. Moser & Cie. HMC 220 standard automatic movement, which is combined with a chronograph module.
Heritage Centre Seconds Espresso Fumé: When Tradition Meets Character
The silhouette of the Heritage Centre Seconds Espresso Fumé model harks back to the pocket watches converted into wristwatches at the start of the 20th century thanks to the addition of slim lugs. A 42 mm steel case with rounded lines, tapered lugs and a notched crown deepen the links with H. Moser & Cie.’s past.
Yet, at Moser, respect for tradition isn’t something to keep quiet about. The Espresso fumé dial injects this classic architecture with a warm depth. A white railway minute track outlines its edge, while the sword-shaped hands filled with Super-LumiNova® and the oversized applique numerals in Globolight®, a ceramic-based material containing Super-LumiNova®, give the piece an assertive presence. The raw kudu leather strap, accented with white stitching, confers the piece’s unique character.
Visible through the sapphire case-back, the HMC 200 Manufacture automatic movement offers a power reserve of at least 3 days.
The Heritage Chronograph and the Heritage Centre Seconds explore two facets of the Heritage collection: in one case the precision of a measuring instrument, in the other the codes of the classic watch subverted by contemporary details. Two reminders that nearly two centuries of history continue to be written.
