CORUM, which shares a long and meaningful history with the country, joins the celebration by creating the “Heritage Coin” collection.

The CORUM Coin! An iconic watch! A creation that is part of Swiss watchmaking history. A watch everyone remembers — and one that CORUM is bringing back to life today.

To mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, CORUM reinvents its iconic Coin watch in a Heritage Collector collection. Fifty unique creations, each dedicated to a State of the American Union, each produced in only five numbered examples. A meeting point between watchmaking heritage, American history, and craftsmanship.

The Story of the Coin

Ever since its introduction in 1964, the Coin Watch has held a singular place in the history of watchmaking. Born from a bold idea — a real coin transformed into a timepiece — it has embodied for more than sixty years the philosophy of a brand that has never stopped innovating.

At the origin of the Coin is the Double Eagle, the famous 22-carat 20-dollar gold coin that had been legal tender in the United States for over eighty years, before becoming one of the most sought-after pieces among collectors. Embossed in the metal: an eagle and the American coat of arms, crowned by a halo of thirteen stars recalling the thirteen founding colonies, and bearing the words “In God We Trust.”

Behind the original Coin Watch’s design lies a meticulous artisanal process. Carefully cut in two along its edge, the coin is transformed: one half becomes the dial, protected by a sapphire crystal, while the other forms the case back; between the two an ultra-thin movement is mounted. The case middle as it were is a solid 18-carat gold ring on which the original knurling has been faithfully reproduced. Each watch is then fully assembled and finished by hand.

A Watch Carried by History

Over the decades, it has moved through the highest spheres of American power. Richard Nixon, 37th President of the United States, was presented with one of these emblematic pieces by CORUM. In 1981, Ronald Reagan, the 40th President, appeared on the cover of TIME Magazine wearing a Coin on his wrist. Henry Kissinger, former Secretary of State, was also among its most distinguished wearers.

These appearances speak to a deep and sincere bond between this watch and the American imagination — one of understated prestige, quiet influence and elegance.

The 2026 Coin: 50 States, 50 Creations

To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, CORUM opens a new chapter in the history of this iconic piece. The collection comprises 50 distinct creations, each dedicated to an American state and produced in only 5 individually numbered examples, with an engraving on the case back.

Each watch has been entirely conceived and customized for this celebration. The front face, shared across all 50 creations, pays tribute to the American eagle in all its power, accompanied by the inscription “250 Years of Independence.” On the reverse, each piece reveals its own idendity. Designed specifically for the state it represents, it unveils an emblematic landscape, a regional symbol, a founding moment, or a tradition deeply rooted in collective memory.

Housed in a 39mm yellow gold case, each watch is powered by CORUM’s CO082 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. Two baton hands and US Mint iconography round out an aesthetic faithful to the DNA of the Coin Watch.

“The Coin is far more than a CORUM watch — it is a reflection of over sixty years of history and a bond woven with America. When the opportunity to celebrate its 250th anniversary arose, the answer was obvious. We wanted to create something unique, where each piece tells a different story. It is, for us, the most beautiful way to honor this celebration,” said Haso Mehmedovic, Chairman & CEO of CORUM.

Together, these 50 pieces map a horological portrait of the United States, each one reflecting a place, a symbol, a chapter of history.

Through this special edition, CORUM does more than mark a national milestone. It offers collectors and enthusiasts an object as worthy of wearing on the wrist as of quiet contemplation — one that brings together two enduring stories: that of an iconic watch introduced over sixty years ago, and that of a nation whose soul it has always carried.

The collection will be available from July 4, 2026, exclusively for sale on the CORUM website: www.corum.ch
