Like rounds in the water

In the depths of the Swiss Jura and more precisely in L’Abbaye, a typical village in the luxury watch making Valley (the “Vallée de Joux”) where great winters gave birth to great ideas and achievements in time keeping, the family company CLAUDE MEYLAN SA maintains proudly the watch making know-how inherited from their ancestors.

MEYLAN is one of the great names which stamped the expansion of watchmaking : In Mid- 18th century Samuel Olivier Meylan from the Chenit District and Abraham- Samuel Meylan from L’Orient had been initiated into the mystery of this art in Rolle and Fleurier. Once they were back home, both began to benefit from their acquired knowledge: Samuel-Olivier Meylan manufactured the first pocket watch fitted with a disc-musical mechanism and then, the passion for movements became a family tradition.

Ligne LIONNE

It runs from the top of our mount, howls and rages in front of our workshops before being let go to join the lake. LIONNE is our river, and as its name indicates, it is at the same time a mother, a huntress and a capital element of the CLAUDE MEYLAN family.

Alongside the CLAUDE MEYLAN Ateliers flows a river, la Lionne. Quite naturally, it became the women’s line of the House which, this spring, reveals ONDINE. Inspired by the pleasure of making circles in the water, waves that propagate in the form of a first circle, then a second, then a third and so on, ONDINE evoke this infinite serenity.

The approach is innovative: rather than designing a case on one side, a bracelet on the other, then searching for the best way to integrate them together, Claude Meylan operates a harmonious association of their geometries. Case and bracelet become one. Never has the “wristwatch” lived up to its name so well.

Like a precious jewel with timeless charm, Ondine reflects the soul of the seventies combined with its very contemporary elegance. It is not just a reference to the past; it transcends the boundaries of time with a meticulously open work movement.

A true watchmaking specialty of the House, this transparency reveals a unique way of revealing the time, like an art piece that captures senses. Simple and refined, its Swiss Made caliber is overflown by two central hands, with the hours and minutes in black for easier readability. With ONDINE, every second counts and every moment are an invitation to well-being, sublimated by the softness of its curves, it is the new “Sculpture du Temps”.

Faithful to the tradition of Claude Meylan, the movement is enhanced by a white lacquered inner bezel, punctuated by 12 Roman numerals. Wheels and bridges are worked in the intimacy of the smallest details of a caliber specifically chosen to animate this new creation. Hand winding Mechanical, it perpetuates the noble mechanical tradition and offers 42 hours of power reserve. ONDINE is about tradition & modernity; she reminds everyone the magic of the passing of time.

Rounds in the water

You began your life
On the banks of a stream
You lived by the sounds
Running through the reeds
Rising from the paths
Filtering through the undergrowth
The wings of the mill
The midday bells
Underlining with a smile
The song of a bird
You took pleasure
in making circles in the water...
