Which colours, diameters, materials or complications will be on our wrists this year? We put the question to TAG Heuer CEO Julien Tornare

What are the three big colour trends for 2024?

We're putting three colours front and centre this year, in particular the Teal Green seen on the Carrera Chronograph and Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon that launched during LVMH Watch Week.

For our women's watches, the iridescent mother-of-pearl of the new Carrera Date brings a timeless classicism to the wrist. Completing our new releases, red is another standout colour, as illustrated by the new Monaco and by the red accents on the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Panda.

Your one certainty for 2024?

TAG Heuer will continue to captivate the public with avant-garde innovation. The constant pursuit of excellence and the desire to always surprise will continue to define our identity.

What about diameters? Going up or going down?

There's no single trend at TAG Heuer. The 39mm diameter remains a popular choice among our clients, confirmed by the success of the Carrera Glassbox, which doesn't prevent us from exploring smaller sizes so we can diversify our offering and satisfy all our clients. There are also several 42mm models in other collections such as the Formula One as well as our smartwatches.

Can we expect more technical innovations?

Innovation is central to TAG Heuer's DNA. The launch of the Monaco Rattrapante is a perfect example and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to exceptional movements. We continue to push the boundaries of watchmaking technology through avant-garde design concepts.

Will you be expanding your women's range?

I'd rather not label our watches, which are designed to suit all wrists. It's great to see that the pink Carrera Date has been immensely successful with all genders, although the diamond-set versions launching at Watches and Wonders target a female audience.

Steel, gold, ceramic, carbon… What's "hot" in materials in 2024?

Gold watches are embedded in our history, going back to the days when Jack Heuer would gift a gold watch to the fastest racing drivers. We also explore new materials, such as titanium which is another of the materials we master, whose unique aspect can be admired on the two Monaco Rattrapante. This diversification is proof of our commitment to aesthetic and technical innovation.

Is sport-luxe still a trend?

Absolutely. Drivers would wear our watches both during and after races. In fact they rarely took them off. TAG Heuer still makes watches which can be worn for sport but also as stylish daily wear. The Seafarer and the Carrera Skipper are the epitome of this versatility. Both are designed to be worn while sailing but are ideal for any occasion thanks to the refinement of gold.

2023, year of the chrono? And 2024?

In 2023 we celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Carrera, the ultimate chronograph watch, with the updated, ultra-legible design of the Glassbox. In 2024 we're going further in our pursuit of chronographic perfection with the launch of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph with a bi-compax layout and steel bracelet, celebrating the legacy of the 2447 SN.

How important is sustainability?

Our priorities at TAG Heuer are to constantly improve our movements and the quality of our products. All the watches fitted with the TH20-00 calibre benefit from 80 hours of power reserve and come with a five-year warranty, proof of our commitment to durable products. The TAG Heuer Solargraph calibre in the Aquaracer line is charged by sunlight or artificial light, doing away with batteries. It too is proof of our commitment to innovation that is also sustainable.

A standout piece at Watches and Wonders?

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, with its white and black dial with red accents, captures the brand's expertise and a passion for motor racing that takes root in a legacy which goes back more than 60 years.

The star of the show has to be the latest Monaco, a modern iteration of an icon chosen by Steve McQueen. This exclusive edition is equipped with a split-seconds movement, engineered to time two events simultaneously, that is a masterful example of precision timekeeping. This remarkable Haute Horlogerie watch is proof of TAG Heuer's exceptional expertise.
