Our latest addition to the team brings new expertise to the editorial room

The last occasion that we were able to share this particular form of news with you was a while ago, but all good things take time, as they say, and this will delight the ears of everyone who has a keen interest in the happenings of the WorldTempus family. The editorial stork has dropped by our office bearing a long-awaited bundle of joy — light those cigars, it’s a boy!

Sophie Furley and I — alongside the founder of our parent company GMT Publishing, Brice Lechevalier — are over the moon about the latest editorial member to join our growing team. Steven Rogers comes to WorldTempus in the role of Senior Editor, and some of you may already recognise the name of this watch industry veteran. Like some of the best voices around today, Steven took a sabbatical from journalism for a few years in order to broaden his horological perspectives and develop his knowledge base.

During this time, he put his writing skills at the service of a communications agency, helping brands such as MB&F, Ressence and Greubel Forsey create compelling narratives to reach audiences all over the world and spread awareness of their exceptional timepieces. Subsequently, his talents were put to good use at Romain Gauthier, independent watchmaker from the Vallée de Joux, whose work we admire tremendously for its profound technical appeal and superb aesthetics. For over five years, Steven took the lead for the brand’s communications, polishing his horological chops at the side of a truly masterful watchmaker and helping watch writers everywhere discover haute horlogerie at its most refined.

From 2021, Steven returned to his journalistic roots, staying mostly behind the scenes as he slowly immersed himself back into the daily rush of a watch editor’s life, filled with new releases from brands of every conceivable segment and level. Today, he joins us with refreshing vigour and the aim of bringing his mature and diverse expert’s perspective to you, our dear global WorldTempus family.

Despite sharing a name with a certain shield-slinging, blue-red-and-white-suited comic-book superhero from Brooklyn, Steven is of British extraction, has lived over a decade in Switzerland, and his greatest offensive power is his ability to lead bold incursions into unconquered watchmaking territory. One such territory is the upcoming watch collaboration between TAG Heuer and the Fine Watch Club, an initiative led by our founder Brice Lechevalier to bring exclusive limited-edition timepieces to those who appreciate them. When he’s not penning articles and delivering the latest watch news to you, Steven will be lending his expertise to the Fine Watch Club and you’ll very much see his involvement at the launch of this project. All is still under wraps, but you can sign up to be the first to discover this limited-edition TAG Heuer model, produced exclusively for the Fine Watch Club community. Final hint regarding the watch: it’s a celebration of the 24th anniversary of GMT, our sister magazine. That’s all I can reveal!

For now, get to know Steven through his first article with us, an analysis and review of Audemars Piguet’s latest Royal Oak model in their proprietary new material — sand gold. Together with our Sophie (editorial mastermind and our clan mama), Allissa Pataki (budding young talent and team quartermaster) and myself (bookworm, madcap, all-purpose nerd), the WorldTempus team has never been stronger. Mazel tov!
