A tribute to the historical Golden Voice model, the new Cricket Golden Heart by Vulcain provides a spectacular immersion into the mechanism driving it. Offering an open view of its legendary alarm movement, it reveals the complex composition of its anthracite-coated Cricket Calibre V-18. By forming a prestigious showcase for this exceptional movement, the Cricket Golden Heart conceals nothing of its precious inner nature.
Fine watchmaking manufacturers like to offer admirers visual access to their exceptional mechanical movements. Vulcain is no exception to the rule as it pays eloquent tribute to its legendary Cricket alarm movement by introducing its new Golden Heart. The latter presents a remarkable “openheart” vision of the Cricket V-18 movement through the finely openworked dial. This mechanical hand-wound anthracite-coated movement features the meticulous finishing one expects from haute horlogerie. The intricately interwoven array of gear wheels, screws and bridges looks every bit like an animated sculpture. Available in black or silvered versions – or in white mother-of-pearl for the ladies model – the partially skeletonised dial sets the finishing touch to this graceful ballet with two circles facing each other and connected by the hour-markers. The “Vulcain” signature at 6 o'clock is echoed by the 12 o'clock numerals just opposite.
An evolved version of the legendary Vulcain alarm movement, Cricket Calibre V-18 is equipped with the patented Exactomatic system guaranteeing regular amplitude and enhanced rating position. The 157-part movement features twin barrels ensuring a 42-hour power reserve and a 20-second chime. Cricket Calibre V-18 drives the alarm, hour, minute and central seconds functions. It is housed in a 39 mm-diameter polished steel case that is water-resistant to 50 metres. A cambered glareproofed upper sapphire crystal and a flat one beneath protect the movement while enabling one to admire it at leisure. This model is fitted with a Louisiana crocodile leather strap complete with steel safety folding clasp.
