The Vulcain Lady's Presidents' Watch is a feminine interpretation of the Cricket alarm movement. While the Vulcain Cricket watches models gave rise to the legendary “presidents' watch”, this elegant version impose the charisma of an authentic stateswoman. Equipped with the 157-part Cricket Calibre V-10, it gracefully reflects a decidedly 1950s heritage.
Avant-gardism, new ideas and passion were the keynotes of the 1950s, when the best, as they said, was still to come. These were also the watchwords of the Manufacture Vulcain in creating the Vulcain Lady's Presidents' Watch - albeit with one notable difference, in that the legendary Cricket alarm calibre had already paved the way for this model. In 1947, in the Neuchâtel Jura region, Vulcain's engineers and master-watchmakers were busy working on an equation with a number of hitherto unknown factors: how could one sufficiently miniaturise a striking mechanism to enable it to fit inside a wristwatch, while emitting a sound strident enough to be truly functional? None had succeeded in solving this riddle until Vulcain presented the Cricket alarm calibre in 1947. It soon earned a worldwide reputation as an authentic technological breakthrough, and this movement was sufficiently innovative to equip a number of Vulcain wristwatches that were adopted by the world's most powerful figures. American presidents succumbed in turn to its charms, to the point where the Vulcain alarm watch was simply dubbed “The Presidents' Watch”.
To fulfil the wishes of all the women who dreamed of a feminine model of this legend, Vulcain's master-watchmakers have created the Vulcain Lady's Presidents' Watch. Elegant, understated and endowed with a classicism that betrays its origins, it is equipped with the famous Vulcain Cricket V-10 movement. Its 39 mm-diameter case is water-resistant to 50 metres and available in an 18K rose gold and steel version. Its dial comes in a choice of white mother-of-pearl or slate grey, with a matching white or grey-toned alligator leather strap. This highly desirable model is also available with gem-set hour-markers at 3,6, 9 and 12 o'clock.
At its heart beats hand-wound Cricket Calibre V-10. Stemming from over 60 years of constant development and improvements, this hand-wound movement has a balance beating at 18,000 vibrations per hour and a 42-hour power reserve. It is equipped with two barrels: one to supply the energy required for the central hour, minute and seconds indications, and the other to drive the alarm function sounding for a full 20 seconds and which has contributed since 1947 to the renown of Vulcain watches and to making them “The Presidents' Watch”.
The Vulcain Lady's Presidents' Watch radiates a unique charm and is pursuing the legend in an unmistakably feminine mode.
