Founded in 1887 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Eberhard & Co. reaffirms its identity by returning to its historical roots while asserting its vision of contemporary watchmaking. After several decades in Bienne/Biel, the Maison has reinvested its original site, restored its heritage symbols, opened a museum dedicated to its legacy, and unveiled a new hand-wound calibre—illustrating the continuity between tradition, independence and innovation that has defined the brand for more than 130 years.
Imperial Dragon Automaton Sapphire Opal by Jaquet Droz, a Dive into the Heart of an Imperial Myth
With the Imperial Dragon Sapphire-Opal Automaton, Jaquet Droz presents a unique and spectacular creation that transcends the notion of a timepiece by combining traditional watchmaking savoir-faire, the millennia-old symbolism of the dragon and contemporary innovation. A complex automaton comes to life through numerous animated actions—including movements of the spine, jaw and claws around a rotating pearl—set on a precious opal and onyx dial, all housed in a Swiss-made sapphire case. The piece reflects the Manufacture’s technical and artistic mastery and perfectly embodies its ambition to bring an imperial myth to life through an exceptional horological creation.
The 5 «Friends» Without whom MB&F…
Since the creation of its very first watch, MB&F founder Max Büsser has surrounded himself with key collaborators—the “Friends”—whose contributions have been decisive to the brand’s existence and development. Among these five indispensable figures are Peter Speake-Marin, who took part in the genesis of the pioneering models, and Stephen McDonnell, the watchmaker behind several of MB&F’s most important movements, symbolically completing the circle of British contributions over the years.
Zenith revives and pushes the limits of its famous gimbal-mounted escapement, one of the major inventions of modern watchmaking, by integrating it into new models within the Defy Zero G collection. Designed to counteract the effects of gravity on the movement and improve precision, this mechanism is brought back into the spotlight through limited editions celebrating the Manufacture’s 160th anniversary in Le Locle. The gimbal continues to symbolize Zenith’s ability to unite horological tradition with avant-garde technology, despite the technical challenges involved in implementing it within a modern calibre.
