The legendary creature appears enthroned against a backdrop of pink and blue cloisonné enamel sky. Both fascinating and terrifying, it takes the form of a red, yellow, and white gold applique. No less than 200 hours of combined craftsmanship were required to bring it to life. In addition to engraving, sculpture, micro-painting, and gemsetting, the depiction is enhanced with cabochon-cut, bezel-set emeralds.
Jaquet Droz has recently acquired this rare skill, which opens up exciting prospects for future one-of-a-kind creations. On the horological side, the timepiece is powered by the Maison's famous eight-day tourbillon, one of the longest-running on the market. This high-performing regulator is visible at 12 o’clock, on a different level from the dragon, thus endowing the composition with pleasing depth.
