Founded in 2024, Germany-based Ventrace offers an ever-growing tool for authenticity, value tracking – and sharing your passion around your watch.
Once you register your watch, you will be part of a growing community.
Registering takes a few minutes as long as you have the watch’s paperwork and clear images at hand from several angles and details like the crown, clasp, and serial number at hand. (You can use your phone for these photos.)
“Ventrace is a platform for collectors. Once you are registered – you will receive auto updates and reports about the value and history of your watch,” said founder and Managing Director Onur Karaman on a recent call with WorldTempus from his Frankfurt office.
The most registered brands on the platform are Rolex, Omega, Breitling, Cartier and Tudor. “But our platform works for all watches – major or micro brands, new or vintage,” Mr. Karaman continued.
A team of five experts is constantly updating an extensive database with knowledge about new and vintage watches; a database used to send your weekly update about your watch. These updates host an array of subjects like value development, technical reports, historical contexts, and brand milestones. So, apart from securing your asset, Ventrace will also make you an expert on your watch. In case anything is not 100 percent clear, the team also work with several watch dealers around the world in case you would need to make a physical verification of your watch. Since stolen, counterfeit and Frankenstein watches is an unfortunate part of watch collecting, users appreciate this high level of security and authenticity. But Ventrace is more than that.
For instance, the user is also free to upload the history of the watch as well as personal details in order to record the provenance of the watch. Again, the Ventrace teamwill make sure that stories are legit, and uploading photos that strengthens your story is welcome. Such stories and the new feature where users can upload pictures of the watch in any situation makes Ventrace a unique horological cocktail mixing security, community, storytelling and knowledge.
(No, you cannot “improve” the provenance of your watch by stating that you wore your watch climbing mount Everest together with Taylor Swift who gifted you the watch just before you made a new world record in doughnut eating. Unless you did exactly that.)
“What we are trying to do is to have the whole picture of the watch with the verification, the history, the value, the social community aspects; all in one place,” added Mr. Karaman.
Ever since its launch in 2024 new features including improved value tracking have been added, and in the future Ventrace plans to include features like technical reports from the testing of the registered watch, as well as creating document of a watches that would make it possible to include it in a wealth portfolio.
So, what is the price of all this? The first month you register for free. (Without registering any payment method) If you like everything that you receive you will pay a one-time fee (€29.90) which will have you and watch certified for life.
