Green Dials

If the bronzes and russets of autumn have you longing for spring, a green dial can help see you through the colder, darker days. Casual but still sophisticated, these verdant dials are also bang on-trend

Oris, CHF 1,900

Style and simplicity are at the heart of this value-for-money watch. A forest green dial hints at Switzerland’s rolling countryside in general, and the lush Waldenburg Valley in particular. Powering the time-only display is the Oris Calibre 733, recognisable by the signature red rotor that is on show through the sapphire caseback.

Maurice Lacroix, CHF 1,950

A flagship model gets the all-green treatment. The Clou de Paris motif on the green dial is repeated on a central band along the colour-coordinated strap in natural rubber. Such a distinctive aesthetic isn’t all this Aikon has to offer. Like the Oris, it delivers excellent value for money.

Breitling, CHF 5,800

Lots to love here, courtesy of a chronograph paired with a second time zone that is clearly displayed by means of a central hand, plus the date in an aperture. The Rouleaux bracelet, introduced in the 80s, comprises a succession of metal cylinders and fastens with an invisible deployant clasp. Guaranteed comfort with a distinctive look.

Grand Seiko, CHF 6,300

A beautifully simple watch that showcases a magnificent textured dial. Shimmering shades of green capture the autumn landscapes around Mount Iwate in Japan, as seen from the windows of Studio Shizukuishi where Grand Seiko watches are made. This Heritage’s limited-edition status will be an added incentive for collectors.

Rolex, CHF 8,000

One of the world’s most famous watches in a diminutive 31mm diameter that will flatter a slimmer wrist. This bijou of a watch certainly isn’t lacking personality, thanks to a fixed fluted bezel and the five-piece link Jubilee bracelet which was specially created for the launch of the Datejust in 1945.

Jaeger-LeCoultre, CHF 10,100

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute is, as its name suggests, a tribute to the earliest Reverso watches of the 1930s. Created in pure Art Deco style, its case flips over to reveal a canvas that need not remain blank for long: a monogram, a crest, a drawing, a loving message. What will you have engraved?

Panerai, CHF 16,200

A tool watch equipped with a flyback chronograph that instantly resets to zero for measuring intermediate times. Chronograph minutes are recorded on the counter at 3 o’clock, across from small seconds at 9 o’clock.

Patek Philippe, CHF 54,000

From a king among manufacturers, a superb timepiece with a distinctly sporting style. A single counter tracks minutes from 1 to 60, while the central seconds hand for the flyback chronograph pulls double duty as a running seconds hand. And there is more: this ever-popular complication is paired with an annual calendar showing day, date and month.
