How exciting! This is my first team test! And I had the pleasure to try the new DOXA SUB 200T. Of the three colors we received, I picked the Aquamarine Turquoise dial with the beads-of-rice bracelet. As a Tiffany & Co Nautilus fan, I loved the resemblance. I work in web publishing at WorldTempus, so I have already come across the details and photos of this new watch before trying it on. However, it was much bigger on my wrist than I imagined (39mm)! This is probably because I usually reach out for smaller dials as I like jewelry watches that I can stack with bracelets. Nevertheless, I loved the sunray dial, and I could imagine myself wearing the SUB 200T with a monochrome white/beige outfit in summer to make the watch stand out! If I had to pick another color from this new collection, it would be Professional Orange.

I am a big Doxa fan, testing the brand’s timepieces while trying all kinds of sporting adventures over the years. I have always been impressed by how legible and comfortable they are on the wrist. Aesthetically speaking, however, they were always a little on the big size for my tiny girly wrist. So, what a joy to learn of this new 39 mm collection that was released during Geneva Watch Week. We received three of the timepieces just before the fair and I took the SUB 200T Sharkhunter model with its black dial and orange accents, in true historic diver style. During the fair, however, they had another colour up their sleeve in this Sea Emerald Green, so now I am all in a tizzy about which one I prefer! What do you think?

A couple of years ago, I stumbled upon a YouTube video of a diver coming face to face with some of the biggest Tiger sharks. The diver was not surrounded by a protective cage, but was instead wearing chain mail armor. As soon as I saw the Doxa SUB 200T with the iconic beads of rice bracelet, I immediately remembered the video and was intrigued by this watch. Let’s start with just that, the bracelet, which feels as comfortable as any strap, as flexible, but gives the wearer a great feel on the wrist. It might not resist a shark bite, but it looks as cool as the chain mail armor! The dial extends the aesthetic appeal further due to its gorgeous sun ray effect which adds depth and color to the piece. Finally, the small teeth on the outer edge of the bezel allow me to extend my shark comparison further, mimicking the jaw of the animal. All in all, even with to its smaller 39mm size, this Doxa SUB 200T could very well be the perfect dive watch and a great companion to have in the deep blue.

DOXA is a dive watch brand that can be difficult to beat in terms of its history, distinctive designs, colourful dials and price point. I’ve always had my eye on its most iconic models, the SUB 300 and SUB 300T, because of all the action and adventure they evoke – The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau and Clive Cussler’s hero Dirk Pitt, for example. But at 42.5mm in diameter these modern-day SUB 300s are a bit chunky for my slender wrists.

So, it won’t be a surprise to learn that I really like the DOXA SUB 200T. Apart from its water resistance (which, as its name suggests, is to 200 metres) and the absence of a COSC rating and helium release valve, the SUB 200T more or less has the same looks and functionality as the SUB 300 line. But they’re served up in a slimmer package that is 39mm in diameter, 41.5mm lug to lug and 10.7mm in height. In addition to these eminently wearable dimensions, its price tag – just less than CHF 1,500 – is equally appealing.

For my SUB 200T test run, I received the silver-dialled Searambler on a beads-of-rice bracelet which looked and wore really well. But if I were to make one my own, I would probably opt for DOXA’s emblematic “Professional” orange dial with glossy finish. Saying that, I later got to try on the brand’s new “Sea Emerald” green model – with sunbrushed decoration plus gilded hands and markers – which is also a very tempting proposition!

As I've mentioned a couple of times before, diving is a passion of mine, and I've been certified for a few years now. Surprisingly, despite my love for exploring the underwater world, I still do not own a diving watch. I know, shocking, right? - especially as some people invest in diving watches without ever dipping a toe into the ocean (you know the memes I am talking about!). So, as a seasoned diver, it's high time I got one!

No small task, since diving watches can be a bit bulky and tend not to fit my smaller wrists. Add to that the fact that I am determined to find one that I can wear every day… Queue the DOXA SUB 200T.

I recently had the opportunity to try it out (alas, on dry land — not much diving happening in Geneva, I'm afraid!) - and let me tell you, it was a perfect fit! It was comfortable and stylish and despite its slightly smaller size at 39mm in diameter, I had no trouble reading the hour markers. To top it off, it boasts an impressive water resistance of up to 200 meters with its screw-down crown. Not that I'd ever go as deep — my certification limits me to 20 meters, which suits me just fine! Could it be the one?
