American railroads, Ball watches are synonymous with precision, quality and reliability. As early as 1891, the founder of the company that bears his name, Webster Clay Ball instigated the first railroad chronometric standards that were later used as the reference for Swiss chronometric certification that is still in use to this day. Inspired by one of its original “Trainmaster” timepieces of 1952, Ball Watch is particularly proud to unveil the Trainmaster Legend, a brilliant reinterpretation of the timeless attributes of elegance, lightness and simplicity that personify this classic Ball collection.
The Trainmaster collection celebrates the railroad masters who supervised the smooth operation of the networks. They handled many aspects of the various railroads including the implementation of company policies, supervision of the trains, depots and employees, management of test runs and safety programs, cost management, and accident investigations, to name just these activities. The models in this collection naturally echo the first watches signed “Ball's Standard” that ensured train safety thanks to their precision and reliability.
With its polished stainless case measuring 40 mm in diameter and 11.45 mm height, the Trainmaster Legend is undeniably an elegant timepiece with extremely fine and light lines. Emblematic of the watchmaking classicism of this model, the dial with its subtle slivered, black or grey tones is voluntarily uncluttered to provide maximum legibility. The raised metal hour indexes add a touch of contrast to the dial and further enhance the extremely easy access to all the indications provided by this watch. The indexes at three, six, nine and twelve o'clock are an astute reminder of the gnomons used on the first sundials and add a further level of refinement to the dial. The heart of the watch houses an ETA 2824-2 mechanical automatic-winding caliber that displays with precision the hours, minutes, seconds and date.
Loyal to the reputation for accuracy under the most adverse conditions that typifies Ball watches, the Trainmaster Legend is guaranteed shock resistant up to a force of 5,000 Gs and water resistant up to 30 meters. Its anti-reflective sapphire crystal and screwed-in crown contribute to keeping time under control easily and safely.
Iconic signature of all Ball watches, the dial's main indexes and the hour and minute hands are fitted with micro-tubes of luminous 3H gas. Up to 100 times more efficient than conventional luminous paint, this state-of-the-art Swiss technology requires no external source of light or energy. Ball Watch has further improved this process by attaching the dial micro-tubes to metal appliques. The new patented process enhances the effect of the micro-tubes while also improving the diffusion of the light generated by the 3H gas. In this way, the timepiece's most precious indications remain visible even in complete darkness.
This superb watch is admirably set off by its stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp or its crocodile strap with a standard buckle.
