An Epicurean Experience with the 19Thirty Fleurier - Bovet 1822
2 minutes read
WorldTempus enjoyed a day of luxury delights in the company of the 19Thirty Fleurier by Bovet 1822

Launched in 2015, the 19Thirty collection draws inspiration from a pocket watch that was created by Bovet before the advent of the wristwatch, hence its hybrid appearance, and is offered with a Fleurier or a Dimier case. WorldTempus had the opportunity to try the 19Thirty Fleurier, whose bow and crown at 12 o’clock lend a particularly elegant air.

A day of luxury and refinement in Geneva, Switzerland, demands a similarly sophisticated watch, and what more suitable companion than the 19Thirty Fleurier by Bovet.

Vines and wines

Just a few hundred metres from the vines in Satigny, Wine District 42 (which happens to be the diameter of the 19Thirty Fleurier’s steel case) will be delighted to store your wines in secure premises, behind reinforced doors and in ideal conditions. In addition to this high-quality service, Wine District procures fine wines for its customers from the crème de la crème of European producers. Have them delivered to your home for an evening among friends or, like WorldTempus, enjoy them in the cosy surroundings of Wine District’s own tasting lounge.

With the manual-winding 19Thirty Fleurier on the wrist (relax: a glance at the power-reserve indicator on the dial tells you when your timepiece should be wound), we took our tastebuds on a journey through French-speaking Switzerland… in moderation, of course! From Geneva to Valais via Neuchâtel, we discovered Switzerland’s liquid delights: none of which posed a problem for our timepiece and its 30-metre water-resistance. The country’s wines are remarkable for their quality but also their exclusiveness. Wine District offers its expert services to source wines from its customers which are no longer available from the producer. We tasted a Neuchâtel wine (Les Margiles 2003 Tatasciore), raising a glass to the origins of Bovet 1822.

Having whet our appetite, we took the 19Thirty Fleurier two floors up in the same building (handy for a double dose of luxury) and continued our journey on the other side of the world.

A taste of the sun

What would you say to a stopover in the Dominican Republic and a chance to discover its world-famous cigars? ALMA Cigarros, a company based in Satigny, Geneva, specialises in importations of Dominican cigars. Sister company ALMA also organises private evenings. We were whisked off to a comfortable smoking lounge whose warm colours set the mood. A fork in one hand, a cigar in the other (and still accompanied by the elegant black lacquer dial of the 19Thirty Fleurier), we were ready for our discovery of the sunny Dominican Republic.

Speaking of sun, if you’re planning to host a summer event, choose the rooftop for a fabulous view of Mont Salève and the vines.

Mechanical excellence

The cherry on the cake: we left as we had arrived… in a Rolls-Royce.

Like Bovet 1822, the British luxury carmaker is synonymous with mechanical excellence and refinement. It should come as no surprise, then, that these two great names teamed up this year to produce the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail, whose fascia is mounted with a custom-made Bovet watch.

And as the holiday season approaches, Dominican cigars and secure wine storage make wonderful Christmas gifts.
