In his quest to find an alter ego in the elite world of luxury watchmakers, Ringo Chong approached the CVSTOS brand in order to create a watch that began as a dream and has transformed over time into a fundamental need. A timepiece to reflect his successes on the racetrack.
The passion for extreme performance shared by this talented duo, is expressed in a plethora of similarities, which has resolutely led to the creation of an exceptional product.
The watchcase is particularly sleek with its 12-part casing architecture (visible and functional), made of grade 5 titanium coated with a black plasma and anodised Ergal surface treatment, which takes its hue from Ringo's Ferrari F458 Italia Challenge, the competition car bearing the lucky number 11 of the famous racing pro. The light metals used endow this product with incomparable comfort and ergonomics. The components of the case are microbeaded, polished and satin finished, reminiscent in design of the racing team's cars.
This truly unique timepiece took shape on the creative initiative of Ringo and with the stylistic and three-dimensional approach of Antonio Terranova. The sides of the watch are made of yellow Ergal, resembling the sides of the car, emphasised by the grade 5 titanium strengthening pieces, whose fluted surface guarantees incomparable grip when operating the "Start/Stop/Reset" functions. Each push-piece head has this same grip making it extremely easy to use and ensuring precision and decisiveness when timing. While the grade 5 titanium crown wheel equipped with a nitrile ring (NBR synthetic rubber), calls to mind the importance of adhesion and contact with the ground of the car's wheels, its smooth and precise push-piece also ensures superb manoeuvrability when resetting the time or manual winding if needed.
Resilient, light and robust all at the same time, this is a tremendous feat of technical skill, since the tonneau-shaped case is water-resistant to 10 ATM, i.e. 100 metres, achieved by using state-of-the-art assembly methods resulting from the latest applied technologies and the know-how of the master watchmakers of CVSTOS.
The superimposed sapphire crystals are supported by two grade 5 titanium columns, with the double dial displaying the time on the first layer and the functions for reading the chronograph on the second layer, thus dividing this instrument into two parts to make it more ergonomic to use. The sophisticated typography exclusive to CVSTOS is enhanced by personalising the lucky number "11" in which is engraved the driver's name "Ringo". This surprising combination makes for easy reading assisted by the black plasma hands, enveloped with SLN yellow P108C (luminescent material). The mechanical self-winding chronograph movement is remarkably precise and is equipped with an oscillating weight, designed and developed by CVSTOS, which combines the extreme density of tungsten 88 with the high modulus of elasticity of grade 5 titanium. Meticulous to the last detail, Antonio Terranova paid homage to prize-winning driver Ringo Chong, during the 2011 season (the number 11 yet again) of the Asian F458 Challenge with a tribute that can be admired through its transparent sapphire crystal back.
The height of sportsmanship is achieved in this watch, which is worn on a black Alcantara strap (synthetic suede), in an exclusive design. Clearly, the comfort that it provides is the bedrock of this project with the ergonomics being made possible by a new technology, rigorously tested to ensure that the strap absorbs perspiration and disperses heat when worn in demanding situations. The strap, accentuated by the quality of its stitching, is handcrafted by the best master saddlers in the same colours as the car.
Of one thing there remains no doubt, a true partnership has been forged between Ringo and CVSTOS, symbolizing the resounding success of two creative geniuses from two different worlds inextricably linked by passion.
