Prepare Yourself For a New Season Of Watchmaking Activities

As a subscriber to the WorldTempus weekly newsletter, you know that we have not slowed down even a single minute this summer in our efforts to bring you articles, photos and videos about the watches and the various activities of our beautiful industry. That said, the traditional watchmakers’ holidays (les vacances horlogères) took place from end-July to mid-August. As of now, everyone is back — and in good time, as the watchmaking calendar for the upcoming months is going to be busy. It goes without saying that WorldTempus will be an energetic contributor to said calendar.

On 1 September, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) unveils the 90 watches (and clocks) selected by the members of the GPHG Academy: six watches for each of the 15 categories. Having discussed this with members of my editorial team who are all part of the Academy, I can say there have never been so many discoveries and newcomers among the candidates, and the result will undoubtedly yield many surprises.

This announcement will take place in the middle of Geneva Watch Days (GWD), the third edition of which takes place from 29 August to 1 September. Check out our special feature section on this subject and look out for our dedicated GWD editorial next week. As founding members of Geneva Watch Days, WorldTempus and GMT magazine have organised an evening gathering of exhibitors and their clients in the official event tent on the banks of Geneva Lake. For those of you following the action from home, you can look forward to our daily event recap programme, under the direction of Sophie Furley.

Une rentrée avec beaucoup de sortie

Visitors to Geneva Watch Days will also be the first to discover the 10th edition of GMT XXL World magazine, which brings the world of fine watchmaking to life in a large format. Some of these visitors will be members of our collectors' club, the Fine Watch Club, to whom we are opening up the backstage of watchmaking with special VIP visits. In the following weeks, they will visit and meet brands as varied as Armin Strom, Baume & Mercier, Behrens, FP Journe, Montblanc or TAG Heuer. Others will also be invited to the Luxury Innovation Summit on 19 and 20 October, to which our expert Suzanne Wong will contribute.

Because we play as hard as we work, our passion will also take the form at that time of the third volume of the Millennium Watch Book (our collection of thematic books scheduled until 2030), devoted this year to dive watches. A completely new immersion in the world of contemporary diving watches, already available for subscription at a preferential price on the-watch-book.com.

Finally, two releases of personal significance to me will be of particular interest to the watch fans in India and the Middle East who also follow us, with the launch of GMT India and GMT GCC this autumn. At GMT Publishing, passion is at the root of everything we do!
