Fantasy Shopping What I would Buy for CHF 5'000.-

WorldTempus’ Sophie Furley goes window shopping with CHF 5'000.-. Discover which watches she has her eye on within this price budget

There is nothing we love more at WorldTempus than dreaming about watches. We see so many incredible timepieces cross our desks every week that we thought it could be fun to do some fantasy shopping. For this first article, I have been given 5,000 fantasy Swiss Francs to spend (that’s 4,800 Euros and 5,500 US dollars) per watch. So, let’s go window shopping!

Chanel Code Coco

Chanel has a nice selection of timepieces in this price range. One that has always caught my eye is the Code Coco in stainless steel with a black lacquered dial. The design is more like a bracelet that tells the time than a wristwatch, which brings an additional element of style. The model is available in a whole host of materials, from gold to ceramic, black calfskin to titanium. There are also yellow gold versions adorned with diamonds, which are to die for, but I really like this simpler version and its CHF 4,900.- price tag.

Claude Meylan Tortue Lady

I discovered this timepiece during Geneva Watch Days last summer and I had the opportunity to photograph it for our sister publication Lady by GMT. The beauty of this timepiece is that it is cute, but serious at the same time. It has an interesting skeletonized movement and dial architecture that leaves space for the eye to see right through the watch. I particularly like the micro-rotor that is decorated to match the dial. Price: CHF 4,850.-

Breitling Superocean Heritage ’57 Pastel Paradise

I have always been attracted to colourful things, I think it has something to do with growing up in the disco era of the ‘80s. The Breitling Superocean Heritage ’57 Pastel Paradise not only has this fun multi-coloured dial, but also has a quick-change strap system and a large array of colourful straps to choose from. But more than just a cool design, this sporty 38mm watch is powered by Breitling’s COSC-certified Calibre 10, and comes with a white ceramic bezel and water resistance of 100 metres. Price: CHF 4,450.-

Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase Stars Manufacture

For something a little more dreamy, I really like this Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase Star Manufacture. I remember when this collection first came out in 2017. I had the pleasure of attending the launch event at the observatory in Nice on the Côte d’Azur. I loved it back then and I still love it. The watch comes in a 38.8mm case size and is powered by the brand’s in-house automatic movement. CHF 4,595.-

Bulgari Serpenti Seduttori

I am a huge fan of the Bulgari Serpenti line. My favorite is the three gold version with black dial and diamonds (in case anyone is listening), but that is CHF 40,000.-, so totally out of my price range (in real life and for my fantasy shopping!), but I did find this Serpenti Seduttori in stainless steel with a beautiful bracelet made up of links that resemble snakeskin. It comes in a 33mm case with a white opaline/silvery dial and a deployment buckle, all for 4,840 Euros (which is actually CHF 5.048.-, but I’ll happily pay the extra out of my own pocket)!
