A timepiece is a means of expression Jacob & Co. uses to convey creativity, friendship and affinity. This frame of mind defines a series of partnership watches. They show the extent to which Jacob & Co. is able to adapt its watchmaking collections to include personal symbols and features to celebrate achievements. The Astronomia Alec Monopoly replaces planets on its rotating platform with the artist’s signature characters. The Astronomia Sky Everest is a tribute to Swedish explorer and activist Johan Ernst Nilson. A black gold interpretation of the existing Astronomia Solar, it features a piece of rock from Mt. Everest itself and two vials containing water from the South and North Pole. Michael Blakey is a Grammy-nominated record producer, drummer and songwriter. Known on social media as “producermichael”, he’s a friend of Jacob Arabo. He created a limited Epic X series, with drumsticks for hands and a rainbow neoralithe bezel, all of which are symbols dear to Blakey’s heart. These special creations extend to the world of cinema, which Jacob & Co. has been heavily invested in as they’ve partnered with several celebrated movie franchises, one of which is Fast & Furious. It inspired both the Twin Turbo Fast & Furious and also more personalized editions.

Godfather, an offer you can’t refuse

Movies are a never-ending source of cultural influence. But they hardly transfer to the watchmaking field. How could have one imagined that a mob drama, however acclaimed, epic and referential, could be turned into a timepiece? Jacob & Co.’s idea was to install The Godfather, Don Vito Corleone in his tuxedo and red carnation, in the middle of a watch, surrounded by two musical instruments. On demand, their tune is activated along the principle of a music box, whose cylinders can be shaped according to Jacob Arabo’s guidelines, such as bullets, or set with diamonds. As the music plays, the entire movement rotates inside the case, like a vinyl record. And that tune is Nino Rota’s original score from the Francis Ford Coppola movie. On certain models, this entire setup is completed by a minute repeater. All the while, a triple-axis tourbillon is animating the movement in a golden cage, a fitting symbol for a padrino’s life after all. A domed sapphire glass and tore-shaped sapphire caseband provide a panoramic view on the inner workings of a movement that has no equal whatsoever. A fertile graphic ecosystem, The Godfather also inspired the creation of a pen and an edition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first movie’s release.
