Longines Titanic Resistance
The Longines Avigation BigEye
Having conquered the skies for more than a century, the brand with the winged hourglass returns with a Longines Avigation BigEye that is sturdier than ever. Easily identifiable thanks to its oversized 30-minute counter that inspired the name of the timepiece (BigEye), this chronograph with a 1930s design now comes in a titanium case. With a view to protecting the heart of the timepiece as much as possible, this material covers the entire screw-down back bearing a stylized engraving of a typical 1930s airplane. In a further nod to history, this watch is paired with a vintage-finish natural brown leather strap. Like its steel predecessor with a black dial from 2017, this blue-dial 2021 version also houses a movement with a balance spring made of silicon – a material highly resistant to corrosion and wear, as well as magnetic fields. The robustness of the Longines Avigation BigEye thus stems both from its mechanism and its protective casing.
