The original Seamaster Planet Ocean was launched in 2005 with a distinctive bezel and strap in bright orange. While the collection has evolved ever since then, Omega has now gone back to the start, with a new model that reprises that classic orange look.
The new Seamaster Planet Ocean comes with a 43.50 mm case in stainless steel. The Planet Ocean’s original orange colour is brought to life on the new orange ceramic bezel ring (new process patent pending). This is further embellished by a diving scale filled with liquid ceramic and Super-LumiNova. The polished dial is in white ceramic and includes applied Arabic numerals in varnished orange. Further subtle details include the date-window at 3 o’clock, the rhodium-plated hands with white Super-LumiNova, and the orange-tipped central seconds hand.
Stainless steel is also used for the fully-brushed bracelet that is seamlessly integrated with the case. There is also Omega’s patented extendable foldover rack-and pusher with an extra diver extension.
The watch is water resistant to 600 metres / 2000 feet / 60 bar and has a helium-escape valve.
Through the sapphire crystal caseback, wearers can view the self-winding Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8900. The movement includes a free sprung-balance with silicon balance spring and two barrels mounted in series, and offers a 60-hour power reserve. The rhodium-plated rotor and bridges are decorated with Geneva waves in arabesque. The movement and the full watch have been officially certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
Price: 6450 CHF with stainless steel bracelet / 6150 CHF with NATO strap.
