UEFA EURO 2020 Eight EURO Managers and their Watches

Watch spotting on the television during the EURO 2020 is a sport in its own right

Since the beginning of the summer, the EURO has taken over our evening entertainment with the most unpredictable matches. Our “Watch Spotting” editorial team has not deviated from the rule of analysing which watches also made an appearance during the major matches of this competition.

We were particularly fascinated by the watches worn by the team’s coaches. These football professionals have a different tole from that of the players on the pitch, but one that is extremely important. They are the ones who determine the team’s strategy. This EURO has proven this more than ever where a change of player at the right moment can completely turn a match around. Here is a non-exhaustive account of the most beautiful watches spotted on the wrists of the coaches since the beginning of the competition.

As a Swiss news site, we will kick off with Vladimir Petkovic, the Swiss national team. But this is by no means a ranking!

As his team played to reach the quarter-finals, Petkovic was spotted wearing a Carl F. Bucherer Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral, an obvious choice given that the brand is a partner and Official Timekeeper of the Swiss national team.

We didn’t have the opportunity to see Italy play at the 2018 World Cup, but the Squadra Azura is back in force for this European championship. And its coach has not finished seducing us with his Richard Mille RM 11-04, a magnificent azure-coloured piece at every match.

There were many surprises in the Round of 16. One of them was the elimination of Germany. Despite their defeat by England, Germany’s coach Joachim Löw proudly wore his IWC Aquatimer throughout.

During the EURO 2012, Andriy Shevchenko gave Ukraine a 2-1 victory over Sweden in the group stage. In 2021, Ukraine beat Sweden 2-1 again, but this time in the Round of 16 and with Shevchenko as the Ukrainian team’s coach. He was wearing a Rolex Daytona that night.

The coach of the Spanish national team, Luis Enrique, has been seen wearing his Ulysse Nardin Freak X at several matches.

Finally, and this is no surprise, Hublot is extremely present in this championship. As a UEFA partner, you surely haven’t missed the referee’s panel displaying the player changes or the precious additional time. This ingenious idea was the brainchild of Jean-Claude Biver and it is now part of the DNA of the Swiss brand.

Hublot has certainly seduced a number of players, but also the managers as we have seen Big Bangs (original but also connected) on the sidelines as follows:

We apologise in advance if your favourite team does not appear in the list. We have had to make choices and unfortunately cannot talk about all 24 teams that started the EURO.

But the competition is still in full swing, and the bets by the WorldTempus editorial team are on. The only question remaining is not which team will win, but rather which watch will win, with Hublot, Ulysse Nardin and Richard Mille all vying for the trophy.
