Two secret sets evoke Van Cleef & Arpels’ cherished world of couture. Two transformable long necklaces feature a dial nestled among trimmings of culture pearls that evoke the fluid movement of the Charleston dresses of the 1920s.
These sets are composed of a long necklace, a watch on a detachable tassel and a bracelet. Combined using the traditional hand-stringing technique, white cultured pearls are discretely separated by knots in silk thread to form an elegant flowing effect. Quarter-turn clasp systems enable the attachment of a jeweled tassel that hides a watch. The latter is surrounded by four rows of cultured pearls, themselves covered with red spinels that hang with graceful harmony. The dial reveals the time only when the tassel is raised.
The long necklace is accompanied by a bracelet entwined by lines of pink sapphires, red spinels and diamonds. Each set makes possible a variety of combinations: the tassel can be attached to the bracelet or hung from the long necklace and the long necklace can form a medium-length one or divide into two short necklaces.
The Maison is also presenting a second version of this set, based on a "black & white"’ aesthetic. Diamonds and pearls here illuminate the curves of onyx beads to form a combination in chiaroscuro.
