Quality. Precision. Passion. Purity. Expertise. The characteristics that have forged the reputation of Leica cameras are also built into its watches.

More than a brand, Leica is a signature, revered by a community who value craftsmanship and consider mechanical excellence to be an art. For its first watch, it has imagined a collection that share the same ingenuity and a proudly minimalist design.

The idea for a Leica watch dates back quite some time, when Dr. Andreas Kaufmann, majority shareholder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Leica Camera AG, first initiated the research and development process for the first own mechanical watch movement around 2012.

The latest collection of Leica Watches comprises two models: the ZM 1, the ZM 2 and its Monochrom Edition. Made in Germany, they are powered by Leica´s own manual-winding calibers and benefit from an ingenious patented push-crown which stops the movement and returns the seconds hand to zero so the time can be set with absolute precision. A dot on the dial switches between white and red to indicate winding or time-setting mode.

The guaranteed power reserve of 60 hours is shown by blades that gradually close over a window; a shoutout to the shutter on a Leica camera. The date can be changed quickly by pressing the push-button at the 2 o´clock position. The ZM 2 adds a GMT function with its own crown. The second time zone is shown on a rotating inner bezel with a day/night indicator. This does away with the need for a separate GMT hand to enable a beautifully minimalistic design in true Leica style.
