A new competition, extreme complications, sports watches and those for left-handers.

Welcome to the month of October! As we reach the end of the year the months start to get corrupted for various good causes. Between “Steptember” (to encourage physical activity) and “Movember” (growing a moustache in aid of prostate cancer research) there is (in England at least) “Stoptober”, to encourage people to give up smoking. Good luck if you are giving it a go and, if you take part in our monthly competition, you might be able to reward your temperance with a fine Eberhard & Co. desk clock.

This week you can look forward to a David Chokron double as our esteemed contributor tackles the most complicated pieces of the year on Wednesday and rounds off the week with a humorous explanation of why he has decided to “vote left”. Of course, it’s not what you think! To start the week, however, Olivier Müller looks at Chanel’s new Code Coco model, which fuses watch and strap in an intriguing new design.

As this year’s Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie de Genève draws nearer, Quentin Mayerat puts the sport watch category under the spotlight and last year’s winner Ferdinand Berthoud presents a brand-new iteration of its prize-winning timepiece with the FB 1.3 chronometer. Read Brice Lechevalier’s article for the full story on this watch.
