GMT turns 18 The liveliest SIHH cocktail

For its 18th birthday, GMT and its partner WorldTempus united the watchmaking world to a grand evening in Geneva on January 17th.

For the third year running, GMT watch magazine and WorldTempus organized a party on the Wednesday of the SIHH, hosting the entire watch community for a relaxing evening. This edition themed around GMT’s 18th birthday attracted over 600 guests representing a hundred or so watch brands who danced the night away, along with other industry stakeholders. This GMT 18th birthday party was held in splendid style with the support of JD.com as main sponsor, Lambert Fils & Filles as sponsor, as well as media partners Asia Tatler, Watch Your Time and Volleto.

While sharing their first impressions of the SIHH, guests were able to enjoy the cocktail dinner served by the Richemond Hotel Geneva, as well as savouring wines from La Côte region of the Canton of Vaud produced by the Maison du Moulin, or bubbles of exclusive Infinite 8 champagne. The evening was orchestrated by the Live Times agency. Founder and Chief Editor of GMT thanked guests for their loyalty and for sharing this special moment – of which the photos and video will be posted online next week – as well as sponsors for their trust. In a similar manner, to launch its involvement in the fashion world in 2016, the JD.com e-commerce website had also sponsored the London and New York fashion weeks.

For JD.com, whose founder Richard Liu had welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron the previous week, sponsoring the GMT 18th birthday party was an opportunity to officialize the launch of its luxury platform and the luxury timepiece distribution strategy in China pursued by JD Watch. Its General Manager Belinda Chen also expressed her enthusiasm to the audience of watch brand representatives. That same day, JD Watch had announced two new distribution agreements with luxury watch brands, notably Parmigiani Fleurier and Eberhard & Co. The latter’s CEO Mario Peserico was one of the brand executives who joined the celebration of GMT’s 18th birthday, a milestone that will be marked by other highlights in the course of 2018.
