This January 10th, Buenos Aires played host to the 4th stage of the FIA Formula E championship, the 100% electric motor racing championship. Tag Heuer, a founding partner of the championship and its official watch, was along for the ride.
Buenos Aires is a symbolic stop for any motor racing championship, but even more so for the most innovative one ever. The competing e-drivers could sense the presence of racing’s greatest driver ever, Juan Manuel Fangio, a god in this country, and a TAG Heuer legend. Fangio would have loved to get behind the wheel of one of these electrically powered machine, and would have pushed himself and it to the limit, no matter the pressure. His spirit electrified the e-Village around the circuit, and was especially powerful at the Fangio Museum in Balcarce.
TAG Heuer organised a special event for the occasion, a celebration of racing’s glorious past and promising future which brought together TAG Heuer Brand Ambassador Bruno Senna and Fangio’s relatives. Bruno Senna is Ayrton Senna’s nephew and among the top drivers in Formula E. The Fangio family are guardians of the Argentinian driver’s legend. Fangio once met Ayrton Senna, and vivid portrait now immortalizes their encounter.
As part of the celebration, TAG Heuer has launched two new TAG Heuer Carrera timepieces, each sporting a vintage look, a 39mm dial and the iconic Heuer logo:
- A silver and blue watch with a touch of red on the flange’s “60”, the Heuer logo and the second hand. The small blue second counter matches the blue leather bracelet. Classic yet unconventional, it suits perfectly those who appreciate standout design.
- A black and silver chronograph with polished push-buttons and two counters— chronograph at nine o’clock and and seconds at three. The vintage look and shape is based on 1964 TAG Heuer Carrera—the original black and white Panda, a collector’s favorite.
